At first I was scared to buy non-OEM toner but the price difference was too irresistible! I'm so glad I took a chance & ordered these LD toners! They are the greatest! A year ago I purchased a black toner cartridge from LD for my Okidata c5500n printer. It worked just fine. In fact I gave it a 5 star review.
I recently ordered a Cyan cartridge from LD and not only was the design of the cartridge different than the original Oki cartridge, I immediately received an error on the dispaly: "Service Call: 231 Fatal Error 03".
I immediately reinstalled the original Oki toner cartridge and the error went away. Putting back in the LG toner cartridge made the error come back. This ruled out the possibility of a loosened cable or defective board. After doing some searching on the Internet, I ran across a pdf of a "Confidential" Okidata Service Manual. The "231: Fatal Error 03" is related to a failure of reading the RFID chip that is embedded in the toner cartridge.
What really irritates me is that I called LD before ordering this toner to confirm that it would work in my c5500n printer since I had read about this exact issue with LD toner cartridges produced since my original black LD toner purchase that worked just fine. But that toner was a refurbished Oki cartridge, thus had the RFID chip in it. The newly designed cartridges by LD seem to either not have the RFID chip in them, or I got a bad one.
In any case, I have a toner cartridge that doesn't work and am giving LD 1 star. I will be calling LD 3/1/2010 and depending on the result of that phone call will amend my review if necessary.
UPDATE: 3/3/2010. LD sent me a replacement toner cartridge. I installed it into the printer and immediately got the "Service Call: 231: Fatal Error 03." I immediately called LD and the rep emailed me a document demonstrating the proper way to install the cartridge. Since I was already installing it properly, it was of no help.
LD suggested that I return both defective toners for a refund. But other than their standing behind their warranty, I have nothing else positive to say.
My experience with two defective cartridges in a row means I will not purchase toner cartridges from this company in the future.

I tell you what folks, I can see NO difference in this cartridge from the factory. The color pages look exactly the same at 1/3 the price. I will buy nothing but these again.
